Composing City Sonnets

by SF.NY

14 lines / each 10 syllables

Interrupted by trains and steam, cars too
When we walked along a gust blew us through
To the underworld, bums and homeless too
A softness, though, it’s Saturday today
Removed from urban, feet set in the sun
You lent me some shades, that gave me some grace
On through the jungle, your backyard or door
Seems pyramids sometimes arise outside too
The subway platform, once more, powerful
With empties of cans, Cola and beer gone
From Kansas to Oz, the gods hadn’t seen
The revised rabbit magician that knows
Where one world ends and another might start
Same as this sonnet’s, slowly stopping now
